The Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue District is the proud recipient of a John Deere Gator 825 I XUV courtesy of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. On the second attempt PSFRD was awarded the grant which made it possible to obtain the Gator equipped with a Med Lite patient transport unit. Special Rescue 27, as it is called, is extremely beneficial when moving sick or injured individuals across the vast expanse of the District’s beaches. Due to limited access, it had been necessary to carry patients long distances to awaiting emergency vehicles. The Gator is equipped with emergency lights, siren, and radio, and carries BLS (Basic Life Support) and ALS (Advanced Life Support) supplies. In addition to emergency responses, SR-27 will be utilized during the many special events that occur throughout the District. A big “Thank You” goes out to Firehouse Subs for their support of emergency services.
