PARTNERSHIPS OF QUALITY CONTINUE TO GROW

We, at Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue, have acquired another family member whose commitment to helping others helps us to be the very best we can be at what we do.

Tom Leyman moved here in 1994, with his lovely wife Vinciene, after serving 33 years with General Motor’s hydromatic division in Toledo, Ohio, where for 25 years served in the industrial fire and rescue brigade doing what he loved most.

Upon moving to Florida, he wanted to carry on his commitment of helping others, and eventually purchased his own fire apparatus that he himself could dedicate time, experience and love to making it something of which he could be proud. Then one day, his wife suggested where he could obtain a vehicle that would fulfill his dream. So, like two kids in a candy store, they became owners of a 1966 GMC rescue truck, with only the original 15,000 miles on it, from Richland, New Jersey. The vehicle served Richland Volunteer Fire Company until it was retired from service and found a new home. We know that Fire Chief Anthony Montfort, and the members of the Richland Volunteer Fire Company are proud to see their squad continues to carry on with their proud profession.

To be productive, there had to be an outlet to become involved in activities that could catch the eye of our greatest resource, our children, which opens the door for us to carry out our mission of reducing injuries, saving lives and property.

We thank Tom and Vinciene for becoming active disciples spreading the gospel of fire safety. Tom now serves as a volunteer park ranger for Pinellas County, and is a CERT member for the Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue District.
